How We Affect International Relations
Every action has a ripple affect across countries and borders. When I read the newspaper or listen to the news on television, I realize that the world is an increasingly global place and it is getting smaller and smaller each year. The Internet, television, the telephone and many other technological advances have made it this way. So what affect does this have on the relations across the globe and moreover, where do I fit in to this picture. The first thing that comes to mind to me is environmental issues. Environmental issues know no politics and they are becoming more and more popular and widespread concern over the Earth is found in all different mediums. When I dispose of garbage in an environmentally friendly way, or am consious of the actions I take that will have an affect on the environment, I am helping bond international ties. Countries are going to have to come together on this issue and continue to make global standards because this is an issue that hurts every person. The relations between these countries are going to be stressed with any environmental problems, so when I make sure I help better the environment I am actually helping aid international relations.

Very good! We’ll see, when we address the ethics of environment later in the course, that the irony of global environmental problems is that those doing the least polluting are often those suffering the most from the degradation of the environment.
